Episode 40: Classic Dr. Who Hardcovers Year 3 (1976) with Tony Whitt

Wyndham publishers put out a total of 4 hardcover books in 1974 and 1975 using the Allan Wingate imprint. They increased that number to 10 in 1976. These hardcover releases mirror the Target paperback imprints exactly. The growing popularity of Dr. Who in 1976 is clearly evident. The demand for these titles in hardcover is shown by the high prices these are demanding even in ex-library condition.  Join me and my guest, Tony Whitt (Target Book Club Podcast), as we do a deep dive into the hardcovers of 1976.

Radio Times is a British TV/Radio program guide that has been around for a very long time. Dr. Who is the most represented TV show to ever appear on the cover. Collectors have been looking for these early rare issues since most of them were discarded after one week of use. Today we talk about the Dr. Who Covers and notable issues of Radio Times. This time, our three-person discussion panel of Tony Whitt, Alyson Fitch-Safreed, and Dalton Hughes is joined by friend of the podcast Larry VanMersbergen for a special bumper volume (hey, that’s a Target reference) for a joint episode with his own show, THE DOCTOR WHO COLLECTORS PODCAST.
