Episode 33: Dr. Who Magazine

Today, we talk with a distinguished group of Dr. Who Magazine collectors about collecting this well-known magazine. Since 1979 this magazine has been a staple for Dr. Who news.  Freebies were also included like transfers, stickers, posters, Target books, CD's, and vinyl records.  As of this month we are on issue 560.  I also talk about protecting those magazines and the most outrageous offer.

The first is The Tardis Library (www.timelash.com/tardis) and The Doctor Who Toybox (www.doctorwhotoybox.co.uk) The first will not only help you find books, audio, and video items, but offers a free way to keep track of them. Episode 30: Target Book Collector's Roundtable

In this episode, I talk to eight distinguished collectors of Target Books including Tony Whitt (Host and Producer of The Dr. Who Target Book Club Podcast), Nigel Adams, David Russell, Lee Thompson, William Thompson, Randy Holndoner, Chris DeLuca, and Eluides Pagan. We discuss everything about the beloved Target novels. With collectors from the UK and the US we here different experiences. Episode 29: An Item You Might Not Be Able to Get!

In this episode, I talk about a prototype or test copy of an item that never went to market and was never available for sale. How many such items exist?  No one knows.  When these leak out they fetch huge sums to own.  This is the ill fated Target Book Collection. A hardcover book with reversible dust cover with a magazine detailing the story and release.  Here it is The Web of Fear.  I may have the only copy, there might be a few more.  Who knows?  Maybe you do!  Here is an item you might not be able to get!

 

Episode 28: Collectors' Roundtable

In this episode, I talk to seasoned Dr. Who collectors and ask them to address the concerns that collectors often have. I am joined by David Russel, Chris DeLuca, and Eluides Pagan. I left the discussion unedited so please excuse that David drops out briefly and comes back. David is from England and the rest from the US. Episode 27: An Important Collectible: Convention Program

Sometimes you have something that you might not consider a collectible. This convention program helped make history and is more valuable to me than anything else. In 1983 I attended my first Dr. Who Convention put on by Chicago Comicon.  It was amazing, but the program had important information about every fan club in Chicago.

Many private collectors became heroes by giving us The War Machines Part 2 and Evil of the Daleks Part 2.  Some have chosen not to share their missing stories with the world. Is this right? An annual has never been released that focused on the Master, until now! Terraqueous Distributors have done it again with the Un-official Master Annual 2074.  We look at it page by page!  I also address price gouging of Dr. Who collectibles on Facebook and eBay, might get me banned again!
